Gear ratios and RPM's
I am currently running the original 3.55's with 265 tires on my 01 ram 2500 4x4. I tow a 5000 lb camper and not happy at all with the gear ratio. At 60mph with O/D (not towing) i run 1600 rpm's, without O/D it is 2300 Rpm's. I am wanting to get 4.10's. can someone out there tell me what Rpm's they are running with a there 4.10 gears at 60mph?

That would put me roughly around 26 or 2700 without O/D at 60mph. Running interstate towing camper would likely be around the 3000 rpm mark. What kind of motor strain if any would this cause vs the current set up I have?
its hard to give an answer to that bc i dont know what kinda shape your motor is in or its history. running those kind of rpm's for a long period could grenade something OR everything could be great. can never tell. really 3000 rpm's isnt "bad" but its def is high
I just bought this truck so the history is kind of vague. It only has 76,000 on the motor so pretty low for the year. I think I will take the chance for the extra low end power I should get. As of now it feels like the camper weighs 10,000 instead of 5000lbs. Thanks for the input!
I would go with the 4:10s, especially if you are towing. If you are running too high of an RPM than desired, you can always get a bigger tire, such as a 285.

5000 lbs is quite a bit to be towing. kinda but not really. i mean the truck weighs 6000 + the 5000 trailer. thats a few lbs. maybe try a cold air intake and performance exhaust also with your superchip.
I am running an air raid intake. Just forgot to add on my signature. With my truck being long bed and quad cab I bet the truck is actually 8000+ in weight. I guess it is pretty heavy for a basically stock 360 and stock tranny.
This is true. The 4:10's will definitely wake your truck up.
