Default oil pressure

oil pressure gauge on the dash goes up and down on its own very erratically. not sure if its just a bad sensor or is i have a bigger issue to tend to and have to change the pump. any other ideas or tips other then changiing the sensor, if that doesnt work i mean

Try getting ahold of a mechanical gauge, see what happens.

Could be sensor, guage itself, or the oil pressure is what is showed.

Try a mechanical guage, if that reads good see what the voltage is coming out of the sensor. If it's irratic, then replace that. If not, condem the guage.

sensor is on the passenger on the back of the block, right next to the EGR tube (behind the manifold).

your oil level ok? most likely the sensor, seen em go bad alot

yeah like these guys said its most likely the oil pressure sending unit. had mine do that. replaced it and problem solved...although this new one I have is acting up a year and a half later. also, it's tons o' fun replacing it!
