Well I took the belt off it today for a closer look. The idler pulley and fan pulley both had somethin gunked up on them, looked kinda like rubber... I got it cleaned off with brake cleaner and elbow grease and thought for sure that was it, but no deal.... So I laid the silicone lube to it and that fixed it for the moment at least.... So it's definitely something on the belt or pulleys, at least it's not a bearing goin somewheres... I might have to pick up a new belt and try that, but this one is only a couple months old and looks to be fine...

The back of the belt isn't supposed to be shiny, and if it is, that's where your squeal is coming from. It likes to polish the back of the belt around the crank on mine.... All I do is take a small piece of sand paper and lightly, ever so lightly "sand" down the shine on the back of the belt. I do this between the tension pulley and the alternator. Works every time.

Nason, I went thru this the other day on mine. I put a new belt on mine and it stopped. I didn't replace my belt because of squeak, however mine was cracked and the grooves on the grooved side weren't making full contact with the pullies causing air to get underneath them making a squeaking sound. Just replace the belt.

the belt's only a couple months old, in perfect shape with no cracking yet at all... I think I just got somethin gunked into a pulley or somethin.... so far it's still nice and quiet after I put the silicone lube to it, but if it comes back I'm gonna try Laramie's sanding trick next, and/or take the belt back off and clean all the pulleys real good with brake cleaner...

mine was like a 'squeak squeak squeak' kinda noise that got faster with the rpms... like there was a spot on the belt that has somethin on it or something, it wasn't a constant squeal or anything like that...
