Default Help please!!

Today im on my way to autozone to pick up a belt for my truck because my ac compressor bearing is shot well i need a smaller one of course to bypass it but the base no ac truck belts are one inch short which are 88.4"btw so a 90 inch belt is good FYI

well im headed to autozone and i decided to go around a field i hunt off of maybe see some turkey or deer. We have had a lot of rain so i threw it in four wheel just in case i needed it well i come up to this swamp and i knew i was gonna get stuck so i just turned around. i was headed out the same way i came in so i took it out of four wheel well here is my problem the steering is like trying to steer a fourwheeler with the front diff completely locked. when i put it in four wheel drive over the winter ( like 123231 times) it wasnt near this hard to steer. the 4wd light is off and i was beating on the lever in hopes that it was still in 4wd but i dont think its that. I was thinking maybe my power steering but why would that just go all of the sudden doesn't it act up first? anyone else run into anything like this? any info or suggestions will be greatly appreciated thanks for reading.

Sounds like the transfercase is stuck. Did you have it in 4lo or 4hi when you were in the field ?

Our transfercases are electric and vacume driven. Something could be going on with either of the systems which will cause that.

The truck was in 4hi. In order to get it into 4lo you have to shift to neutral correct therefore i had it in 4hi because i didnt shift into neutral nor did i push the lever forward i pulled it towards me. There was some water too could the water caused something? i doubt it but i am trying to think of everything possible.

No the water wouldnt do anything, But maybe some muddy water got into the axle shaft since you said you have a bad ring for it. Mud might have gotten into the differential and has the gears clogged up.

Pull the cover off and check it.

Hell take the cover off anyways, you might have a bad seal in the axle which could have clogged up the diff causing it to get stuck. **** i dunno just throwing it out there lol

When you have it in 4wd and a vacum line breaks on the 4wd unit does it stay in 4wd or kick it out of 4wd? i dunno myself just asking. and maybe your steering stabilizer locked up? Throwing turds out the window with yak, lol

if the vacume breaks it would automaticly kick it out of 4x4 because thats what makes it shift in.

If he took it out of 4x4 then it shouldnt be stuck.
