i agree with hammer, 3-4 trucks is all we need to be voting on, 7 is way to many. and make it so if you win OTM you cant be nominated again
and i also think silvers idea for modification of the month is an awesome idea, i know id be pretty good in an OTM because my truck has come so far, but i also do some pretty cool (i think anyway) mods to my truck like all the diamond plating and the custom switchboard i made.
and yak, if you get in an OTM, youve got my vote, even if im running against you. you do so much work on that thing, you deserve it.

I agree, I often will consider factors besides just the look of the truck. IMO anybody can slap down a credit card and have a lift, big honkin' tires, and fancy wheels installed. I tend to vote for the guys who, like me, do all or most of their own work.
Hell, the last 4 or 5 mods on my truck, I made myself, like my 'gutta scoop insert, HEMI sill plates and the fairlead cover/license plate bracket right down to the HEMI plate I punched out of a sheet of polished aluminum.

i think its a good idea. i remember this used to go on quite often when i first came around, but then it died. but alot of those members are gone as well. i only remember silver and rm being really active. but that was like 3 yrs ago
Ok, so in my opinion, I started this thread at a time when I didn't have a lot of free time to watch it and keep up. Furthermore, I didn't even get all of what I wanted in on the first couple of posts.
Four in the poll is what I was kicking around in my head, but it never traveled anywhere else. As for the renom, I agree, but as small as we actually are, I don't think it needs to be a full year. We have tons of member here that pop in only when they have an issue, or people that stick around and have this thing against posting a picture of their truck. I don't know why. Maybe they think the truck's soul will die or somethin.
That would be an awesome idea and I implore anyone who wants to undertake the idea to jump on it. I'm sure you'll have the whole hearted support of the staff to get your stickies.
That was kinda what I had before, but the turnover was too extreme. I liked having it separated out like I had it just for that reason, but once we got to lowered rams, the participation really fell off like a cheby tumbling from a cliff.
We like the following ideas, yea?
1. Four (4) members per poll
A. Take the first seven (7) that get nominated and the first four (4) that accept go to the show.
2. Someone else taking on the idea of "Modification of the Month".
3. Limitations on how many times a person can win per "year".
A. Six (6) Month turn around seems best in my eyes to keep the interest up.
4. Cross section advertising will be allowed.
A. Only one thread is allowed, and it must not be biased towards anyone contestant.
If anyone wants to do other polls, then go for it. Don't let me stop you.
If I might make a suggestion, I'd limit the NOMINATIONS to the first seven people who get nominated, then pair it down to the first four of those who ACCEPT.
I think four in the poll is plenty, five at the most.
Also, I'd put in a stipulation that a winner cannot get nominated for a calendar year after the month he wins. This way, the same killer truck doesn't win month after month...

On a side but related idea, I always thought it would be neat to do something like a Modification of The Month. The idea is to have a poll not based on voting on someones entire ride, but just on one single modification they've done. Back when we where doing TOTM, I remember people complaining that they would never get nominated because their truck was mostly stock and couldn't compete with the highly modded rigs. So this competition would throw that out the window and let you showcase just one cool thing you've done to your truck. Everyone could participate in that.
I envision that we would have people submit to the section mods a cool modification they've done that they want to showcase. The mods would vote on the top 5 or 10 or something to be entered into the competition. Each entrant would then provide a brief description of what the modification was, why they did it, how it works, etc... Then the rest of us get to vote on a winner.
It has some side benefits for the forum that a regular TOTM doesn't have. One I already mentioned is that everyone could participate, not just the guys with really nice and highly modified rigs. Another would be that you would get to see a bunch of neat modification ideas all presented in one thread. That would be very interesting to see I think. It could help spark a lot of discussion about interesting modifications, and might prompt people to discuss stuff they've done that they did just because it fixed something for them, was a good idea, saved them money, etc... That would in turn help others who might have the same need and just never thought of a good way to fix it.
Anyway, just thought I would toss that log into the fire and see if it burns.
