Nason, if you take a piece of 1/2 or 3/4 plywood and cut it to 16 1/2 inches wide you can mount it right to the supports on the bottom of the back seat, and then mount the amp to that. Im redoing my whole system right now and thats what my plan is to do. Cover the plywood in some grey carpet and it'll be a clean install.

I was kinda thinkin about something like that redneckrocket. That's where I'd most like to mount it, it'd be off the floor and out of the way of little feet and misc junk gettin put in the back. I'm thinkin either there or under the center seat somehow... I'm also throwin around the idea of putting it under the drivers seat like marder said, I think it would fit there all right but I'd still like to keep it off the floor if possible...

Any idea what the supports inside the rear seat are like? are they square or round or what? As in would they be easy to drill some mounting holes in them? If it warms up any today I'm gonna look into it a little harder, and probably pull the center seat out for a better look...

Please don't take this the wrong way, but that Sony Xplod amp is horrible. Bad quality and they go bad ALL THE TIME. I can't tell you the DOZENS of those exact models I've seen broken. I highly suggest you sell it off, but another amp and then design your mount around that.

y'know dude, I FULLY expected to hear crap talk about the ol Sony xplod stuff, I know it's not the best gear out there, but I'm also not gonna be entering in any db drags or anything like that.... Actually I hardly have it cranked up alot as it is now, I like listening to the roar of the truck itself lol....but the price was right so I'm gonna try it out...

no hard feelings, I'm surprised it took this long for someone to say it

I have mine laying on the floor behind the sub that is behind the drivers seat. My Power Acoustik amp is about the same size as that Sony.

and I don't blame ya. I was only mentioning because I would hate for you to build some sort of custom mount for it, then it break, and your mount not fit whatever new amp you buy.

Also, you wont have to turn it up really high to make it have problems, just be extremely sure that you've got it connected properly, and I'm referring to the impedance load (i.e. don't bridge a 2-ohm load to that thing)

Under one of the seats would be good if you were to attach a piece of sheet metal to the back of the seat bracket to keep little feet off the amp.

Here's mine and it's been fine for something like 4 years where it's at.
