called the dodge dealership whose owner is a really good friend of ours and found out my diff i not LSD. so that is awesome. i'm glad to finally get this resolved and move on.

Not LSD. The clutch packs would be visible behind the side gears. (the ones the axles poke into) You have an open rear end. LSD units for our trucks run right around 500 bucks... unless you can find someone to give you a nice discount..... or, find one used in the junkyard.

Got my Auburn for $435 (+ free shipping) from Moe's Performance. Mostly 3rd gen gear there, but a few of their things fit our trucks.

You dont have a limited slip differential
i have one in both my trucks --- i dont see the anti rotation clips and the cast carrier is too small to retain the cluch packs --they fit in both sides behind the idler gears
jegs.com will give you info on the cost for a replacement or a rebuild kit --if i am mistaken ( dont think i am ! )
i am in the process of rebuilding one ( $ 63 ) easy for me but can be difficult if you dont get the gears put back in the original place .
