2001 ram swap with 96 ram
The 01 diff senor has been connected. First thing this am I disconnected it and the "ABS" and "Brake" lights lit. When I reconnected it the lights went out.
The next step I tried was to connect the 96 PCM. It started, ran a little rough for a bit and smoothed out some. Additionally, the "ABS","Brake", "Check Engine" and none of the gages functioned; ie Tach, speedo, temp, batt and oil pressure. During the test drive it shifted from 1 to 2 and into drive fine. However, once in drive it kept shifting between 2 and drive.
That leads me to belive the trans is OK ???
After the test drive, 1/4 mile max, I replaced the 01 PCM and took it back down the road to see if the completed shifting sequence may hve aligned the stars for me but no -joy.
Did another visual on both trannys and the 96 has 3 electrical connections. one on the tail shaft and two near the shift link. The 01 only has the two on the left side near the shift linkage. Still confused and look'in for direction.
