Torque build
Alright,
Goal: Torque (like Bill's Durango combo). Let me know if i left anything off the list. Even a, "Hey you will need to buy _____ when you get those____"
Parts I have:
1. 24# injectors (Had them on my 1996 ram): 4 hole design, over stock 1 hole
http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/domes...rs/?itemid=297
2. MSD 6AL and Hypertech coil (had them on my 1996)
Parts needed:
1. Cam: KRC RV Cam (are the lifters included?)
2. Roller Rockers: 1.6 harland sharp
3. 180* T-stat
4. Magnaflow cat
5. SCT with hemifever tune
6. Hughes plenum reinforcement plate and bolt/gasket kit
7. Wideband A/F ratio gauge
Parts I can't decide:
1. Heads (2.02or 1.96 valves)
http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...l&partid=25495
OR
http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...l&partid=25426
2. Timing chain (since I am doing a cam). Need an idea of what is good for the build and not overkill. There are timing chains that range from 50-150+ dollars
I am just wondering if the 2.02 valve heads will be overkill. YES, it seems like i am doing a lot of work for just a daily driver, but i am not bringing this truck to the strip and I built a parts shredder 9 years ago.
I am planning to do the work over memorial day weekend and I am going to start ordering the parts this week.
Any help or ideas on cutting the cost would help....especially if you are a dealer and you offer lower prices. I already got the PM about the roller rockers. Thanks, Rich!!

Here is it laid out...I just can't find used R/T Heads. I liked the numbers form the dyno. You can probably get the tune from that guy if you do it.
He laid out all the parts he used and got these numbers on a rear wheel dyno:
223 peak HP at 3800
250 ft/lb at 2800 (340 at 2400)
COMPARED TO A HEMI:
232 RWHP
280 ft/lbs
I like this build. I would hold off on the 408. The tune is the hardest thing to do, and it must be dyno tuned. But there is the great feeling of saying "Hey its a 408." Kinda like saying "Hey its a 502."
I wonder what that cam would do with a 408?

Maybe the sure cure. But the truck only has 48K miles on it, so the tranny is still strong. i just got a new transfer case installed (still under warranty so I paid a 100 deductible).
I won't be racing it. Just want something that doesn't feel like a dog.

sounds good. i think the torque build with a few tranny upgrades(170k) would be the best bet for me. i want to be able to say i have a 408 but i want the less headache less dough kind of approach so i will be following this very closely. im not on a budget but i do have a kid on the way so it up to the wife what i spend and she does like mean trucks.

I have two girls and my wife wants another...and for me to have a heart attack. And i am only 29. But I look like a rough 40.
