gasket question

Default gasket question

I put a plenum kit on an intake i bought from a friend, put i think im gunna use the stoke intake instead. Can i reuse the metal gasket that came with the kit or should i use a felpro gasket ive had sitting in my garage.

Use the new gasket.

If you are going to use the stock plenum plate then you need to buy shorter bolts for it.
The stock bolts are too long and bottom out in the holes and that is the main reason that the plenum gaskets fail.

I wanted to go with the stock intake with the plenum plate kit on it. Also my buddy painted the bottom side of the plenum plate dark high temp blue, he said it would keep the heat in the motor and out of the intake. I read this was bad as the paint would come off eventually and might clog the oil pick up tube.

you are right about the paint, it's a bad idea.

use a new gasket, and not the stock one. Don't put that flimsy piece of metal on.

Yep, paint saturated in 200º oil is a bad idea. You should soak it in a good paint remover for a while to get it all off before the install.
