It depends on the width of the axel, spring perch to perch, rotor to rotor length, pumpkin on the correct side, if you have 4wd, gotta make sure the ratios are the same. Among other things.

They made those axels in many different applications so bust out he measuring tape and hit the scrap yards. You can always relocate the perches, hell you can even shorten them.

yah, i got a 4x4. I'd try and get the front and rear axle outta the same truck to keep the ratio's the same.

know to make sure the pumpkins are on the same side.

The previous owner put a rancho4" lift kit with upgraded shock mounts, dual shock absorbers. Never was able to find out what model it was, so i am not sure if it was a bolt on kit or if they modified anything.

I never do anything the easy way lol...

You can cut the Spring perches off of what you have and weld it on to the new, Just have to be careful to keep the angles the same.

been doing some searching on the forums here. I got a lot of great info. I am looking for a couple of things.

1) What options came with 2500's for axles. Ie. Dana 60 upfront / dana ?? rear end.
2) what options came with 3500's for axles... dana ?? upfront / dana ?? rear end.

Looking for a short history on the 2nd gen truck axles. Looking for tell tale signs for identifying the axles. Don't want to get ripped off buying the axles.

From what i've read, the rear end of the 2500's (believe dana 70), had 3" wide leafs. I should try and get the leafs and perches from the guy to make my life easier.

2500's came with Dana 60's. I think the 1 ton's had the 70 (available as an option?). Springs on all 2500's I think are three inch.

I think the 2500's, and 3500's had the 60 front.

The 2500s/3500s did have 3" wide leafs, wider than 1500s.

For the front axle, the transmission/engine doesn't matter...
1994-1995 LD 2500: Dana 44
1994-2002 HD 2500: Dana 60
1994-2002 3500: Dana 60

For the rear axles, it depends on what engine/transmission they came with from the factory...
1994-1995 LD 2500: Chrysler 9.25
1994-2002 HD 2500 5.9L gas V8: Dana 60
1994-2002 HD 2500 V10/diesel auto: Dana 70
1994-2002 HD 2500 V10/diesel manual: Dana 80
1994-2002 3500: Dana 80

Sweet!!! Thanks guys. i lost geno's website... that's the info i was looking for!

Suggestions needed. I have a 4" Rancho suspension lift on the the truck (I think that's what it is, it came with the truck when i bought it). The blocks they used on the rear leafs will be too small, is it easy to get the right blocks from Rancho? Just wondering what others have done in the same situation?

If you are going to upgrade to heavier axles, it probably wouldn't be such a bad idea to replace the springs as well..... going to a spring that doesn't NEED a lift block would be good.....

I was put out here a while ago that the rear leafs on a 2wd 2500 were the same width as the 1500 4wd, 2.5 inches wide.
