First time I did it I used the bottle jack in the truck with a piece of wood to spread the frame. The second time I just used some big A** hammers.

Someone will correct me if Im wrong, but I do believe the frame will flex a little bit when you take crossmembers out. Might try to put a jack between the frame rails or use some heavy rachet straps on each side to pull it apart.

I had to use a BFH and ear plugs. You could also use two come a longs hooked to the frame and a tree on each side of the truck or a high lift jack to spread the frame.

I second this wholeheartedly. I've done the bottle jack thing and it's not pretty when the miscellaneous pieces of wood slip and come flying out. The High-Lift is the way to go.
