Default leaky plenum... have a look

Here's a pic of the plenum pan from my intake. notice the nice pool of oil on the rear of the plate? (the rear has the 1/3 circle for the distributor so you know what it is your looking at...) I could not see this looking down into the manifold. what I saw was on the side of the intake which made me think it was leaking. to my supprise, it was leaking down by the distributor

Thanks Steve. I know a lot of people, me included, have wanted to know what to look for in regards to leaky plenum, (since it seems to be such a common problem on Rams).

Good post.

What I would recommend to whoever wants to check their plenum is to remove the TB and get a good sized mechanics mirror that you can fit down into the manifold and look ALL the way around with a flashlight. a light coating of oil vapor is ok, pooling is not. you should not have oil running down the plenum like I did when we removed it.

thats not that much actually, but the thing is it was leaking with the metal gasket. Now that I have the aluminum plenum kit, I'm hoping this doesnt happen again.

Thanks for the pic by the way. It gives me a better idea of what I'm looking for.

that test has been proven to not work all the time, if it is a big enough leak it'll show it but smaller leaks it may not work...
