Air bag light

Default Air bag light

I have a 99 ram 1500 4x4....every so often the air bag light will just come on out of nowhere stay on for a while then cut off......any ideas on what this could be

Go to your local auto parts store, and have them read the codes.

Auto parts place said only a dealer can scan that. I've got the same problem. They wanted 70 bucks just to scan it. Said screw that it doesn't bother me that much. 70 bucks just to plug in a scanner, i wish i worked at a dealer.

Find an independent shop with a scanner, they will be either a lot cheaper, or, maybe even free.

Last time I checked "AutoZone" would plug In their code reader for you, for free. At least they did for me. Lol. Good luck!

For engine codes and such. Not sure about ABS, or Air Bag.

That's true. Last time I had a issue with a vehicle the dealership did a complete diagnostics for less than $100.

mine was on when i got my truck i bought a used air bag module and replaced it and it went off but mine was also staying on all the time

Thats what I'm guessing is wrong with mine. How did you do it? I don't want to go breakin into anything and not be able to put it back together.
