i replaced mine a long time ago with a set from autozone.
it sits level and the metal tabs do whatever they're supposed to do, and don't interfere with closing.

i think the tabs are supposed to let you unclip it from the stud. which end do you have the clip on, bed or tailgate ?

check if they might be on backwards? i'll look at mine later today.

One time I took my tailgate off and accidentally put the bed side of the cable on the bar that is for the latch on the tailgate. When I let go of the tailgate it wasn't level. Took all of two seconds to realize that I put the cable in the wrong spot. Check that.

Awkwardly embarrassing, but yep... that was the issue. Le Sigh. Oh well, it's all sorted out now!

Thanks All.

At least we didn't start threads about it!

Props for owning up to it, not making something up involving returns, terrible customer service, junkyards, bad fuel economy, and throttle body spacers.

Today I tried to return the throttle body spacer I bought from the junkyard because my gas mileage got worse, but the bastards wouldn't let me. Their customer service just plain sucks!
