Agree. You could go to advance autoparts with your truck and cables and use their socket and ratchet, then you won't spend anything except gas. I dunno...just a suggestion. At least around here they lend tools for free

When I did mine, I got some cables at Autozone from the self help section. Worked just fine.

I found a T-45 bit at Home Depot for $1.97 and had those cables changed in five minutes.

Also, to protect the cables from future rust and breaking again I took a blob of bearing grease and packed it into the open ends of the cable where the cable ends clamp to the cable. This should seal the ends of the cable from water that could find its way into the cable ends and wick its way through the cable.
Just a thought.

In my search for new cables I did find there is a difference in quality.
Some have a smaller diameter cable with cheap light weight ends on the cable.
I found a pair of heavy weight cables with beefy heavier conectors on eBay for just $16.00 and free shipping.
