Default 1997 Ram, engine dies when coming to a stop.

check engine light is on, showing a bad speed sensor. Anything that would cause the dying??

Shouldn't. Have you check for vacuum leaks? Looked down your throttle body to find oil pooling in the base of the intake?

if you can keep it running by braking with the left foot and maintaining slight gas pedal pressure witht he right, then its probably the IAC motor or port on the back side of the TB. you can do a search for a lot more info. sometimes the port/pintle just gets gunked up. a related sensor is the TPS. they interact a lot, so sometimes it can be hard to tell which is messed up.
