which manual tranny comes behind a 5.2
truck in questions a 96 if it matters. half tonne, 5.2L 4x4.
just wanna know cause i might pick the truck up as a parts truck and i know these trannies are rare, and should bolt to a Grand Cherokee for someone crazy enough to go manual
anyways, what is the name of it?
thanks

Saw a statistic once. 95% of the nation (or something along those lines, maybe even more, its been a while) don't know how to drive a manual transmission. Therefore, they will not order manual transmission cars/trucks.
The transmission from a Ram will not work in a Grand Cherokee... the starter hole is on the wrong side. And the bellhousing is integrated into the nv3500, so there is no changing it.

The nv3500 is useful only if you have a 5.2 it can't handle the output of the 5.9 thats why they didnt equipt 5.9's with it..just noticed in your sig you have a 5.9 ram..so for a conversion transmission its not a very good base..unless you have a 5.2 then it make's sense because of the weight difference of it having an aluminum case..
yup. thats the one
wanna go halvsies? hahahaha i need a few choice parts... OR if you want it, i'll take some stuff of it too! small world ehjust curious about the manual for the specific purpose of swapping it into a ZJ. i seem to have a 'thing' for ZJs, and the idea of a manual behind the 5.2 is kinda cool. the cherokee forums i used to frequent said the tranny off a dakota 5.2 would bolt up; just wonderin bout a Rams.
only standard i'd goto would be one off a diesel, and that probably wouldn't bolt up.
but just lookin at getting the truck and parting it, so its nice to have info on said parts
The transmissions off a 5.2 dakota and ram are the same. But the starter is on the driver's side. IIRC, the starter on a grand cherokee is on the passenger side. I suppose it would work if new wires were ran to the driver's side.
