Default 99 ram pulling codes

so, can't pull the codes in my 99 Ram.
why?
having some minor idle issues (almost stalled last night for no reason waiting to turn left) want to see codes before anything; 3 key turning trick revealved nothing; no codes and it didnt' read 'done' like it does in my jeeps or the last 02' ram i had. OBDII scanner i borroed from neighbour didn't do anything either.

ideas?

thanks
John

Your truck is OBDII, the OBDI scanner won't work.... How did you even get it to plug in??

Go to your local Advanced Auto/Napa/Autozone, they have code readers, and will check your engine codes for free.

Looks like I need to clean my glasses a bit better.

Will your scanner read another vehicles?

If your PCM is being uncommunicative..... that may well be a symptom of your problem(s) as well. Best I can suggest is, check the wiring for the diag port, and if it's all good, replace the PCM.
