I have the craftsman boltout things and they work, but are kind of a pain. I bought new tires once and not long after had a caliper fail. I couldn't remove one of the lugs with my 220 ft lb pneumatic ratchet. I used the bolt out and it worked, but not the best design. The one I have is designed for a socket to fit OVER the bolt out. I had to buy a large socket to fit over the bolt out then use a cheater bar and jump up and down on it.
I said all of that to say that some other manufacturers are designed to fit on a socket ratchet.
if I had to do it over again, i'd get the kind that fits on a socket ratchet and not one that requires a socket to fit over it.

yea the sockets snow is showing work. just hammer those to the rounded lug and hopefully you have access to an impact, then unbolt it. those sockets are what we used at discount to break off wheel locks and or rounded off lugs.
umm...if you live near a discount tire, take it to them. they can get it off USUALLY for no charge. working there, we did it for free just to help the person out. you are probably gonna need the impact for this job thus Discount Tire. can't really think of another way off the top of my head right now
