Default 2000 Dodge 2500 5.9 motor swap

I have a 2000 4x4 2500 truck that I am replacing the bad motor with a low mileage good motor. I have the front of the truck off, harness pulled, removed alt and AC compressor, motor is loose in its mounts, then I move to the underside and start to work on drive shafts etc as I was planing on pulling the whole motor and tranny as one unit. Well while Im under there Im not sure that is a good idea.

So when you guys pull a motor do you pull the motor only? or the motor and the tranny as one unit?

As well what did you guys strap to on the motor? This motor has no hook points

Any and all info would be appreciated

Thanks

Tom

Its easier to pull the motor/trans together. I find it easier but when go to align the new motor to the tranny (both being out), its easier to align them up than being underneathe the truck.

Hhhmmm... I am just the opposite. If the trans doesn't need to come out, I leave it in there. Far easier to pull the engine alone, than engine/trans combo. (not to mention transfer case on a 4x4....)

If you are only replacing the motor, only pull the motor. Why make more work for yourself?
