Best Tuner????
i know im going to get ragged on by the guys here because i should know better but....
I hear alot about an SCT tuner from Hemifever. i know this would help with the deathflash but how do i go about and get one. what info would i have to have as far as mods go?
and is this better than superchips?
i should know all this stuff but im an old school kind of guy and have never dealt with uprgading PCMS and want to get it right the first time so i dont screw something up. Thanks

Don't worry about it. We all gotta start somewhere.
I prefer the SCT, as you can flash the PCM yourself as many times as needed with custom tunes designed for your upgrades, just have to download the tunes from your email that Hemifever sends you, and he will, of course, put the first tune on the tuner before he ships it out to you.
Only thing better would be a complete suite of software, laptop, etc. hooked up to your PCM/sensors so you can make your own custom tunes. And those aren't cheap.
Here is the email Sean (hemifever) sent me when I asked him about the SCT originally:
The "can/as is" tune, also called a canned tune, is equivalent to the Superchips 3865. The only thing the Superchips tuner can do that the SCT cannot is adjust your speedo for different tire sizes.
If you want the SCT, you can contact Sean at hemifever@aol.com
Just give him a basic rundown of what you've done to your truck so far. He'll work with you if he needs more/less info.

I offer two types of tuning packages. Price includes the tuner and tuning shipped to the US.
A "can/as is" tune for $275 (normally $449). I'll increase your speed limiter and reduce/remove tq mgmt. I change the timing and fuel curve but no extra improvement customizations are used. I'll use a timing curve that works really well. If for some reason it's too aggressive for your octane quality I will correct that. I got hosed back in 2001 when I got my '01 Ram custom flashed and it spark knocked. The company wanted another $300 to customize the timing table. If you choose this and then want custom programming later it's just a $100.
$375 (normally $549) is custom programming. That includes unlimited updates on the current configuration. If you change cams or heads, etc and need more tuning later, there are no fee's. If you switch trucks and need a completely new tuning config, there will be a $50 fee. A wideband a/f gauge is pretty much required for tuning with heads, cam installs.

you will not go wrong with the SCT from hemifever, i got one and it was well worth the money, i was contemplating it myself but decided to get it since there isn't a whole lot you can do to a V10, with the 93 octane tune running 87 octane, 3.55 gears and 31's only mod i have done is the headers, i'll smoke the hell out of my tires...half pedal.
i dont think ts a good idea to stack tuner, if you were to set the second one it may be harder to unlock the 1st you put on, and the air/fuel ratio may be way too much i dunno

Well, you can't double stack tunes obviously, as one will just overwrite the other (if the 2nd tuner even works at all).
I also believe its bad practice to double stack tuners for different features... one for tunes, one for tire/speedo changes, for example. Sure, it should be fine, in theory, and work great... however, theories are called theories for a reason. I don't know if they would mess with each other or not and brick the PCM or not.
A cut-down "tuner" that just adjusts the speedo for different tire sizes, and doesn't have any other options, would probably be fine though.
Anyone have any experience with that?
