hey guys got a '94 ram 1500 5.9 with 170,000 mis and need a new transmission anyone got any ideas???? any cheap transmission sites????
i need help fast trying to get it in b4 memorial day
If you were in Indiana, I know a guy that will do it cheaper than usual. It only cost me $688 to get my rebuilt, and the guy also put in a shift kit and new torque converter. All of that for that price is almost unbeatable
well you can pickup a rebuild kit for the 46re for about $150+the money to get the transmission rebuilt. You can also get a fully rebuilt transmission for about $750 that's in nebraska. I don't know what prices are but I know a guy that can tear it down, take a 30 minute break and put it back together in 2 hours blindfolded and only charge $250+parts. they typically run $500 to have rebuilt...depending on where you live.
yeah thats cheap...some guy told me he could do to for 1400-1800 dollars!!!! Thats ridiculous...all he said he was going to to is replace the bands!! lol
I find it hard to believe that a tranny can be rebuilt professionally for $700 and have it go the distance and endure 150K miles and up. And is that assuming that there are no hard parts to replace, only soft parts? The going rate for a simple rebuild is about $1500. Any cheaper and either quality (parts and labor) will suffer or it's not warranted...sold as is.
The tranny had a 6 month warranty....plus...I don't think my tranny should have been rebuilt! I am going to get a new tranny the next time, I also bought the truck with a slipping tranny though, too
