Default tires

Alright guys i bought this 94 doge ram 1500 4x4 a few months ago from a buddy of mine. I have went thru put new shocks, new u joints in driveline and axle, new brakes, and one new wheel bearing. After i fixed all the little problems i am now ready to move on to what i origanlly had plan for this truck, a week toy.

i have been driving it for about a month now with no other problems starting to show.

I am ready to buy my tires. I am buyin new 15x8 crager soft 8 wheels.

I am looking at the 34x12.50 super swamper ltb bias, and the 35x12.50 bf goodrich km2's.

Like i said its a weekend toy, the only time this is going to be my driver is in the winter as my other truck is 2 wheel drive.

Needing opinions and real life feedback on either or both of these tires.

Let me say this, i know the ltbs will ride rought being bias. I "think" im ready to deal with that. I know the km2's will ride alot better. I am just really wanting a badass tire in the mud and rock. We have a offroad park about 20 min away that i will be going to regulary.

future plans are also lockers front and rear and either 4:11 or 4:56 gears.

any and all comments will be apprciated.

thanks

Check the thread about TreadRight tires. Retreads, but, significantly cheaper, and I have not seen any negative reviews from anyone that has actually run them. Company has a good rep as well.

I would also consider a wider wheel for your 12.50 inch wide tires. A tire that is 4.5 inches wider than the wheel you are mounting it on is not really a good idea.

I wouldn't recommend bias ply tires either...... Radials are far superior, all the way around.

I'll tell you what My bfg mk2's are wearing pretty quick. My lowest tire is 9/32 and my others are around 10/32. Good thing I didn't pay a lot for them.

A 15x8 wheel will fit 12.5's just fine. I have done it and know many people that have. I have run a set of Km2's before and they were a bit of a rough ride but they wore out nicely, I bought mine used with about 45% tread left and I have had them for about a year and a half. 35's are really heavy for these trucks witht he stock gears, I would stick with no bigger than a 33.

its gonna get 35s because its gettin gears in about 3 months along with a locker.

Also i have seen 12.50 on 8's many times on the trails. The only reason i dont want 10s is in the soft 8s they have the wrong back spacing.

Also i think i have thrown in the hankook dynapro mt's as a choice as well.

The ltb are on a stop production untill mid summer and the km2s are about 4 weeks out from discount tire.

I am really wanting to get some tires within the next 2 weeks.
