gear question
There's a whole math calculation that is used to calculate the proper gear ratio to tire size. The gears should be changed to IMPROVE fuel mileage and speed off the line as well as when the torque converter kicks in, it drops the RPMs down when cruising- this causes lugging uphill / under loading conditions.
I should have that formula around here someplace but, off my head you looking to change them up to a 4.11 or possibly higher even to say, 4.86. On mine, running 3.55, and 33s, it lugs under load and, I've had to compensate by disengaging the TC by switching off the OD or kicking it down a gear when going up super steep inclines when towing. Unloaded it's not nearly as noticeable. I'm going to 4.10 - 4.11 on mine this summer when I get some time to change them out.

it doesnt bog down at all thou during towing it feels like nothing's there..even my 27 foot 5th wheel doesnt slow it down up hill it has lots of pedal left it feels like its under geared(if thats the correct term for it) it accelerates almost too quickly from gear to gear..but it top's out like this i think it should go alot faster..

In your case, are you saying it shifts too fast? If you answer "YES", that's an indication that your TV cable may need adjusting to suit your liking.
If it tops out, that sounds like a death flash to me but, I'm not sure of what you meant when you said that it "

I do recall reading where you stated that it IS shifting to 5th gear and all but, do you know if your torque converter is engaging or not? IF so, you'll hear the RPMs drop once you've reached a balance of speed to torque. This is during cruising on flat ground - loaded or unloaded. Torque converter engages thus dropping the RPMs.
IF: if the vehicle seems to remain in a lower gear / higher RPMs, then, it may just be your torque converter is not engaging but, even when I run mine disengaged, I can still hit 90-100 without issue when towing. I've done it by accident a few times due to the flat screen from the stereo blocking the indicator lamp.

I don't know why there's still talk of torque converters and TV cables, the OP has a manual transmission.
You either don't have 3.55's, or you have a problem somewhere. With your setup, you would be going the equivalent of 181 MPH at 4500 RPM in 5th gear, not 75 (and I really doubt you're going 180+ MPH in a 2nd gen dodge.)
Even with super high gears (5.88's) you would still be capable of 109 MPH @ the top of 5th gear.
Sounds to me like you're stuck in second or third if you really are turning 4500 RPM's at 75mph.

Ok, ran the number on this page. Plugging in the low range ratio on the T-Case for the high range on an underdrive unit (to give the numbers that would result with the T-case in low range...... yes, a cheat.) shows 65 miles per hour at 4500 RPM in 5th gear.
Check your transfer case. I suspect it is indeed stuck in low range.

hey i have trouble my self i have a 2005 dodge ram quad cab 1500 5.7 hemi, i have all the performance bolt ons on i run high 14s in a qtr and i have 3.92 stock gears in it and want to go to 4.10 what will be my difference in all?? anybody?? thank you!
I found out that with 33's and 355 gears I'm running about 4500 in 3rd, at 75 mph. I've got a 5 speed too. Just something to think about. That seems more likely than the t-case being stuck in low range. He would know if it was, because the front tires would be scrubbing on the pavement because of the front axle in 4x4. There's just no way that his t-case is stuck in low and he doesn't realize it. Now missing the shift to 5th gear I can see. It feels like it's WAY up and right, not as close in to the others as you would expect. At 95 in 5th, I'm only running 2800 rpms, btw.
I would also think though that he would notice that when he up-shifted, and the RPM's were higher........ that would be noticeable as well.....
I am not saying he has four wheel drive engaged, I am thinking the Transfer case is simply stuck in low range. The front axle doesn't necessarily have to be engaged....... There are two shift forks in the transfer case, one for range, (hi/low) and one for mode (2/4wd) If the range fork has an issue........ the t-case might stay in low range, even though the front driveline is not locked in.
Not saying this is definitely it, but, it is certainly something to be looked at.
simple test would be drive the truck in first gear, at 2500 rpm. see how fast you are going. Put the truck in 4Lo, first gear, 2500 rpm, and compare speeds.......
