Yet another example of how even when you think its not blown, or try to convince yourself that you don't have that problem, that its blown, your Dodge has this problem. Every Magnum engine HAS this problem unless you get a different intake manifold, or you get the Hughes or APS fix.

OK, end rant.

BTW, this was not directed at you Whaack, I just decided to use your thread as an outlet. Sorry for the partial hijack.
Agree 100%, that is part of the reason I took the pics to show that even if you don't have the common symptoms of a blown plenum you have one.

Let's put it this way. The most I have ever done before this was change my own oil on my old Jeep. I had three different instructions that I printed off, the FSM, and a Chiltons. I labeled everything I took apart and went VERY slow. On top of that I had a plug break off in the block which set me back a couple hours. Total work time

4 hours Friday night
8 hours on Saturday
4 hours on Sunday

If you are more mechanically inclined than me and you know your way around an engine you can probably cut that in half.

quoted for TRUTH!

There was actually a thread the other day where some of us got in an argument about this.... I am a firm believer that all magnum engines have the bad plenum and this is just more to back that up

I thought i had a good plenum when i bought my truck...then i took the TB off all together and thats when i found the plenum was bad...looks can be decieving.

good job Whaack...thats a headache out of the way.

And like i say to everyone who attempts the plenum, its not as hard as you think...if you have basic sockets, wrenches, and a fuel line disconnect, you can do the job. Its NOT that hard.

I used a can of Misty (mostly tolulene I believe) and it worked pretty good. The thick stuff came off pretty good with a brass wire brush for the drill.

Mine didn't have the symptoms either but it was blown.
You can get a much better look if you pull the throttle body off and stick an inspection mirror in there.

I used easy-off oven cleaner. Worked great. Got the idea after seeing the ball and chain cleaning the oven. Tried way too many other solvents. Easy-Off worked as advertised.
