FML! no power after driving fine! cat converter?
so i was driving down hwy 50 tonight just to clear my head after a long stress filled day and i stopped at mcdonalds to get a sweet tea to wash down the bc and got in my truck and started it up and drove out of the parking lot and romped on it to get in traffic and my truck had no ***** and would not go over 50 now first i thought it was my trans so i pulled over checked it and put it in neutral and revved it and it would not go above 2500 rpms i have great oil pressure and my water pump was just replaced and checked that had no leaks
so i got back in drove home and i noticed my truck was quieter then normal seeing as the exhaust dump under my cab and has a nice rumble most of the time...now is there anything else that would cause this besides my cat? i replaced the cap and rotor 2 days ago and plugs about a month ago as well as air filter with k&n and did my water pump and thermostat within the last week...
i have to start my new job tomorrow and it's an hour away.... i checked the cat but it was not red or glowing although it did have a rattle before all this happened that i shrugged off to being the heat shield any and all comments and help is welcomed!

Sound like a bad cat, mine did the same thing instead it wouldn't go over 20mpg. Hit it with a mallet, check for some rattle. There's no emissions testing in Florida (at least my part), so i'd say just gut it
as a simple test, you can remove the front 02 sensor to relieve some pressure. if this allows it to rev up better, it confirms the cat is clogged.
when beating, banging, or welding on the cat - remove the 02's. they're expensive.

yup pull that front O2 sensor first, before you start hacking on the cat.... that'll give the exhaust somewhere to go IF the cat is clogged up. I'd just gut it anyways if I were you though...
I wonder how many northerers/mid westerners are scratching their heads on that one. If you try to get sweet tea in Oklahoma, they'll give you a tea and a pack of sugar. If you try to get it in Maine or Kentucky, they'll just look at you like you're stupid.
