So I was going through the garage this weekend and found a full set of autolite plugs for my dakota that I never used. Although they share the same engine, the ram takes a different plug. So while in town getting an alignment on my dakota I took the plugs back and swapped them for the correct ones on the ram. I knew that the plugs on the ram were in rough shape but I was truly amazed and mad when I had to use wd40 and a lot more elbow grease to break two of them loose. I the picture you will see the best one and the worst ones I pulled off the truck. These are the Autolite Double Platinums and the very tip was burned off on all 8. NO WONDER it wasnt running very smooth.

I put in the standard Autolite 5224 and its made a WORLD of difference.

Hehe. Well this truck is in for a whole lot more TLC once I have the cash flow to do things right. I plan on doing Mopar Perfomance cap/rotor, wires, Hughes plenum fix, new upstream o2 sensor and magnaflow cat.

Can anyone tell me if Magna flow makes a high flow Cat?

FYI, if you are running no muffler with the stock cat then you might want to get a glass pack or something when you put that Magnaflow on, they flow a lot more air.
Does Magnaflow make a low flow cat? I thought they were all high flow.

 

Sheriff you read my mind!! I was planning on having them cut out the over sized muffler and installing a glaspak after I put the new cat in. I didnt realize that magnaflow was all high flow. But knowing that now makes me like them even better!

 

As far as I know, all Magnaflow catalytic converters are high-flow units.

Try not run ethanol gas with high flow converters, unless you get one of the heavy metal versions.

 

I had no muffler and a stock cat. When I put the magnaflow on my truck, it would pop and snap over 2000 rpm and that got old quick. 27$ later I had a Thrush glass pack on it and now it sounds good again.

Here's a couple video's of mine. I have it split into duals after the glass pack and I have a couple exhaust leaks toward the rear end, but it gives you the idea of a 5.2 with a Magnaflow and a glass pack.
