CEL Light - No Code
CEL light back on at 55 miles after reset.
so what are my next steps. I know that you start our with the simple, inexpensive stuff first. So should I change the O2 sensors and how many of them are there?

O2 sensors can degrade in performance and not throw a code. Most people roll their eyes at this, but O2 sensors should be change ~50K-65K miles. The people who don't do this are the ones who scream, "They're just trying to take your money!" Right, that's why timing belts shouldn't be changed at 65K mile intervals, because everyone knows it's best to leave them there and have them break at 90K miles and destroy the valve train.
If the O2 sensors have not been changed, it wouldn't hurt, because that also affects the emission system. After all, the catalytic converter should NEVER have to be replaced on a vehicle. The only reason a cat goes bad (aside from a manufacturing defect) is a faulty emission system.

If it is turning on the CEL, and NOT throwing codes..... You can throw parts at it till the cows come home, and you may never fix it....... That is a bad plan.
If the light is being turned on, but, you are not getting any codes, that really indicates a problem with the PCM itself.

I appreciate all the help you guys are offering but have one more question and hopefully then I will shutup. Is there a way to determine that it is the PCM? And check out this link to one I found for $245. Thoughts?

Everything I am reading points to one of a couple of issues:
First: inadequate scanner. it simply won't read codes.
Second: If you are using the key trick, that only shows engine and emissions codes. (maybe)
Third: Gas cap is loose?
Fourth: Failed PCM.
Not to mention a possible short in the circuit for the light itself......

It is odd that there is no code. Personally if it were me I would take it to the dealer and pay for diagnostics. The DRB might be able to see what is setting the code. Let them tell you what the problem is and go from there. I'd hate to see you toss in a computer for nothing.
