It is possible to put a 5.7L Hemi in a 2nd Gen Ram. But the amount of work it takes is not worth it unless you've got some cash to play with and don't mind being without your truck for awhile.

You'll need a donor truck basically as you'll need the motor, tranny, and electrical components from the 3rd Gen. From what I've read some of the wiring is a bitch to figure out.

There was a member on DF that put a Hemi in his Quad Cab Dakota. There is a thread on it, can't remember the name though.

Honestly, best bet, find a good JY replacement or a rebuilt from Advance Auto - someone posted a price a few weeks ago, right around $1700.

Rebuilding your's can get very expensive depending on how bad it is.

i wouldnt even even know where to begin, i have only put 100 miles on the truck since i bought it. it has 226,000 now. i might have to due a .030 over bore on it but i am also trying to keep it smogable as i am in california. a little off topic is the trans in the 2nd gen a three speed? if so is there a trans compatible with the truck that has an extra gear or would my best beat be to just lower my rear end ratio? oh and i did post a comment on a different thread about vaccumm line if you guys could check that out.

The 46RE is a 3pd with OD for the 4th gear.

Are you running larger tires?

Spectre seems to have reasonable prices for CAI - $150 on SummitRacing
A lot of what your paying for is the name, you can make a CAI for around $15 in PVC pipe, plus the filter. Trick on these trucks is the cover for the throttle body, not sure how to get around that with the homemade stuff. I'm sure somebody else does though.
