All Rams had the OD brutton on the dash until the interior update in '98.

Besides plenum fix, and timing chain and gears, exhaust would be better then CAI, just a little more expensive. The factory "Y" pipe, where the two exhaust's pipes from the motor meet, is restrictive and would negate anything else you do.

It needs to exhale better more then it needs to inhale better so to say.

Being your truck is a '97 Jegs makes an offroad Y pipe that would fit and it supposed to be pretty good.

what about redoing it from headers back? what's the brand and style of choice for sound and performance?

thinking of redoing the pipes to a 3" and go true duals.

Too big. You would get a nice deep tone, but, you would lose a good bit of bottom end power. If you want to do true duals, don't get any larger than 2.5"
