Default Refurbish your truck?

what you think the best way to make ur **** look like new again is? as far as the engine compartment, engine lookin new again, degreased etc. and also the undercarriage? i was thinkin like for the axles and stuff that has become a dirty color and stuff from the wear of the weather and nature, is there a spray on paint that will stick to it, or should i sand the metal a little first?

Need to clean if off first, if you want to have any hope of something sticking to it. Also need to keep in mind, that the parts your are referring to, hang out UNDER the truck, so, won't stay 'clean' for long. (right up until you drive it again...)

If you dont prep the frame right your wasting your time painting it.

For best results, I scraped/wire wheeled it clean, then degreased it.
Then sanded it smooth removing all the overwelds & splatters.
Next, used Metal Ready (POR15) which is zinc oxide etch that will give some rust protestion
as well as etch the metal so the paint will bite. Had to wash/dry it after with clean water.
Then painted it with POR15.

I used POR15 gloss on the frame & diff outback. the axle tubes I used flat black POR15.
Any brackets on the frame I powder coated with mirror black or my Indy blue mix of pwdr.
Think it turned out pretty good.

If you want to clean up the under carriage, rent a steam pressure washer and strip any loose undercoating and grime you can from it.

Then, get some POR-15 or Rust Bullet and coat everything you please with it. You don't have to strip it to bare metal as these paints are designed to encapsulate rust and stick to about anything, but the cleaner you get the surface the better results you receive.

Get a few cans of rubberized undercoating and redo the wheel wells.

The steam pressure washer will do wonders for the engine bay, just be careful pressure and heat wise as you could very well cut and/or through wires and plastics with it.
