Unhappy Got hit today...

Yep like the title says I got hit today. The damage isn't too bad but yea I'm peeved. I was backing out of a parking spot and just as I was getting ready to shift into drive, a dude in a car backed up into the back left corner of my cab. He bumped the rubber strip on my back driver side door and put a good little dent in the corner. Not wanting to spark up a hole accident thing and have the insurance raised (it's already high enough) we made a deal and went on our ways. I'm pissed it happened but I'm happy it happened now and not after I got the truck painted seeing how thats the next big planned thing with it.

I could for awhile but I have plans to get the truck painted so I might as well get it fixed.

what do you mean - you made a deal ?
as in he paid you about $500 cash money?

if he's at fault, why not just get an accident report and let his insurance company handle the damages ?

maybe there's something going on with a particular state's no fault insurance that i don't understand, but here in GA, (not a no-fault state), if you hit me, your liability insurance pays me for damages that you caused... no cost nor deductible to me.

There is also the so called "Mini-Tort". (at least, here in michigan) If you have police report in hand, and the other driver is at fault, and you have at least a 500 dollar deductible, you can walk into the other guy's insurance company, and they will cut you a check for 500 bucks.

My Blazer got whacked in the rear. Tailgate, back glass, and bumper were right-offs. Got my 500 bucks, got a tailgate for 30 bucks, even in the right color...... glass for 50 (with the wiper motor still attached), a bumper for 15. Fixed it in my driveway. Couldn't even tell it had been hit.
