I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the overhead consol. There is a compartment to put your glasses in. But what the ... is the other one for up front of the interior map lights. have noticed there is some kinda plug in there. but what is it for ? i was thinking a garage door , but thats to small for the opening. Any ideas ?

Sorry, i can't help you out then. The 94-97 over head console's were different from the 98-01's Maybe someone else could chime in? A pic ALWAYS helps...if you can.

 

You are actually right, it is for a universal garage door opener. Some openers are larger than others. I velcroed mine in there so that I push the "plug" and it hits the button on my garage door remote inside.

 

ok thanks, just seems like a waste of space. theres got to be something it could be used for other than a door opener.

 

I've seen someone on another forum I think that removed the door and installed a custom switch panel. Other then that, not sure what else it could get used for.

 

hahaha, yeah those over head consoles are a joke. the glasses one is too freakin small to put glasses in, and the garage door one is just dumb and awkward. My friend has a 94 ram, and he's got all the temperature gauge and the odometer. im jealous
