Default code 36 help

I got a 94 dodge ram 4x4 1500, its obd 1 so i cycled the key on of 3 times within 5 seconds and it flashed a code 36 and then 55 (end of message)

Well code 36 reads wastegate solenoid, open or short detected.
1) where is this solenoid?
2) where is this solenoid?
3) what would this solenoid being bad cause the truck to do?

The sympton is when you let off the gas to hit the brakes the truck idles down to abot 300RPM and sort of studders then it comes right back up to 750RPM and idles good with no studders.

It also SOMETIMES mainly while idling when being driven awhile misses and idles rough.

I dont think its the ignition system because it does not miss under a load or while idleing at all times. only somtimes.

Any and all advice would be apprciated.

Thank you.

Also the thing is, a wastegate solenoid to my knowledge is on turbo charged engines. this is a 5.9 gas engine non turbo.

Wastegates are usually associated with turbo chargers... somehow, I don't think that is the case here..... half tons never came with the diesel that I am aware of.

If the code resets, (light is still on), recheck your codes. According to the list posted here, there is no code 36......

Those symptoms sound a lot like a sticky idle air control motor, or perhaps corrosion in the electrical connector of it.

AFAIK, the only waste gate on a gasser is the passenger door that lets the mother-in-law get out.
