you'll need roughly about 13-15 inches of lift to clear those tires.....and then you'll need to re-gear/swap axles....you're talking some big money just to put 40's on....

I'm a believer that if your modulating your gas pedal properly you can run just about as big of a tire as will fit under these trucks. Stupidity breaks them. I run 37s, but I am not stock either.

Compensating for exceeding design specs by driving like the proverbial little old lady from Pasadena isn't a good idea. 40 inch tires on a 6000 pound truck, with dana 44 axle is a recipe for broken parts.

Although, I suppose, blowing up the 44 will give him a viable excuse to replace it with something beefier.

Dana 44's are beefy as hell. Dana 44's are what the majority of people who race use. We press them into fabricated spindles all the time. They are beefy as hell. They see race use all the time with 35-37's and rarely fail..

They would do just fine on a mall crawler with 40's.

So what you both are saying is that Chrysler's scale was wrong when they produced these trucks?

Come on.

Not even a Cummins in the heaviest offered configuration weighs that much.
