Default 2500 or 3500?

Ok, me and my buddies are going to fix up an old Tractor that my friends uncle drove in a couple tractor pulls, it has no engine, but we'll figure that all out, what I need to figure out, is what type of truck I should get, I know I'am getting a Dodge, and I cant afford a brand new one, I'am looking for a 2nd generation ram, but I was wondering, would a 2500 be ok with hauling a gooseneck flatbed and a tractor on the flatbed?

How much would the trailer and completed tractor weigh?

I'am not really sure of the tractor, its just metal tubing, with aluminum covering, looks like a huge dragster, and I'am looking for a big engine, so that'll weigh a bit. Featherlite does'nt say how much their trailers weight, it'll probably be a steel or aluminum trailer.
So I'am just estimating, roughly 1 to 1 and a half tons?

I've pulled 10,000lbs behind my 97 1500 with a 318 from memphis to nashville several times which is about 200miles and have never had any problems so you should be fine with a 2500 especialy if its a deisel.

a 2500 deisel is the way to go with manual tranny. at work we build hydroseeders and a guy has a 2500 and can pull 3 500 gallon hydroseeders all over the country to deliver them. its a great truck. (hydroseeders unloaded)

There is no difference in suspensions between the 2nd gen Ram 2500-3500. The only things that are different are the 3500 has dual rear wheels, and a Dana 80 rear axle (which you would get on a 2500 SRW with manual trans.).

Otherwise they are the same truck.
