Nah, it's hot and I can't work on it naked (the neighbors will complain) so I'm gonna wait a little bit.

Yeah, getting your dong caught in the serpentine belt doesn't sound like much fun.

(but it might make it longer...hmm)

I had Just ordered the Hughes PLenum Kit the other day. I am putting a cam and some pacesetter long tubes on , and figured the plenum kit would be a good idea. I am also gonna do the kegger mod at the same time. Now while reading through this thread I hear complaining about the kit leaking. I have a friend that is a really good welder...now this hughes plate that is coming will line up with the bottom of my plenum.....so could I have him tig weld this to the bottom after I have modded the Kegger to ensure it never leaks?

If he's good with a TIG then I say go for it. It'll be like an air gap without the gap.
I believe the problem with mine was the gasket itself. I think it flattened out a little too much and just couldn't keep the seal. The bolts were still as tight as they should be but it was leaking for sure.
I also put the hughes plate on there with no gasket to check for straightness and sure enough it sits flush all the way around.

I've already got it back together, I'd be more concerned with it touching the 140º fender and cooking it to about medium-well.

There's no sense making the serpentine belt longer...

Thanks for taking pics and all while your working on it, i know how agravating that can be. Looks great so far!

Sucks that it was the gasket, Im alittle worried about spending money on the hughes fix now. You did say you torqued everything right, so it has to be some design error somwhere right?

I think it was just a bad gasket.
The hughes plate sits flush all the way around with no gasket in place so I know it wasn't that. The bolts were threadlocked and torqued in the right sequence.
