Manifold leak = Evap code?
I've discovered that I really do have the plenum leak. I had thought I did a while ago, and decided that since it was only a light film at 80,000+ miles it probably wasn't the plenum. Now it's looking like dark oil, and a good bit of it. The question is, can it cause an evap code? I've been chasing that code forever.

The plenum leak will not cause the evap code. It is probably the hoses connecting to the charcoal canister, or under the hood.

No, I hadn't seen it. I'll be reading it the whole way through, though. Also, I was in a rush earlier and forgot to mention that I have already replaced the tubes to the charcoal canister and the gas cap. The gas cap is from the dealership, not a parts store.

The evap system purges into the manifold... which is an "open" system. So, I don't think it would be causing that problem. The leak would have to be between the leak detection pump (passenger side under the hood) and the gas tank.
Check the hoses on the LDP. I suspect that those hoses are damaged/cracked. I had a few hoses that were cracked on the LDP. They looked fine from the top, but as I rotated them on the nipple - you could see the cracks.
I had damaged hose at the canister and at the LDP. Once I replaced those hoses, the problem went away and I was happy.
Cost in parts was ~15... not too bad.
I don't know what the shop cost would be for a plenum repair, but I'm guessing it would be somewhere in the ballpark of $600.

I can do the repair, and I'm probably going to mod a kegger from the boneyard as well. I just can't handle the idea of putting it together stock. I'd love to add an M1 or Hughes intake, but the Hughes is $600 + shipping and the M1 is quite a bit also. If I can find a used one, I'll do it. I guess I'll check the hoses while I have the manifold off. It should be a bit easier then.
Hmmmm, I'll bet access the the exhaust manifolds would be easier, too. Maybe I can find a set of headers out there for a reasonable price...........
