Default Another tranny thread

Hows it going I have a 99 1500 with a 318 and started having tranny problems. The past few days it feels like ive lost alot of low end power. Then tonight i was leaving work and it revved to 2000 RPM before it started to go anywhere. Could I luck out and just need a fluid and filter change? Or do you think I need a rebuild. I plan on changing the fluid and just wondering how much ATF4 to use? Also if it needs to be replaced does anybody know a good tranny shop in the SF bay area? thanks for your help.

Edit.. Its a 46RE I belive

Rebuilds aren't that hard. I did my own for about $500. Are you low on fluid? What color is it? It should take about 4-5 quarts.

check your fluid first. That will tell you. Start and warm up the truck then put it in neutral while still running and check it. If its burnt then most likly u need a rebuilt. If its low the add some then drive it.

If it smells burnt, then it's shot. I wish I had a tranny shop to recommend to you, but I just haven't found anyone I could trust in the bay. Just out of curiosity, how many miles do you have on it?
