hey guys need a lil help with a dana 80

Default hey guys need a lil help with a dana 80

i got my 1500 axle apart the other day and i broke my spider gears teeth off lol. so i come across a guy selling a dana 80 with 4.10's in it from a hd truck for 225 bucks. has anyone on here done this before? what driveshaft should i use and what else do i have to do for this swap. get back to me asap please

Dana 80 is going to be 8 lug. Possibly need custom driveshaft.... not sure on that, at minimum you will need a U-Joint to go from the 1500 driveshaft, to the dana 80 yoke. If he has the shaft out of the original truck, and they are both the same body style.... might bolt right in..... (although, I think the HD truck had the 241HD T/C??)

Might need an adjustable proportioning valve. Rear brakes are going to be MUCH more effective than the old axle....

E-brake cables are probably not going to work...... the ones off the 80 (if they are still there...) might adapt nicely though.

Not sure about brake line fittings..... might need to jump thru some hoops there as well.

grab the axle, start looking for an eight lug dana 60 front to swap in.......

yeah i was doing some research on this and it looks as if im guna have to cut some perches off and reweld them on since they were more narrow in? and yeah ill have to check into the brakes and stuff also. and he had a 5 speed tranny

The dana 80 is a dully axle you know this correct?

he said its a single wheel. maybe its a dana 70 idk he said its a single wheel out of a 97 with the rear sway bar

if it came out of a 3/4 ton HD it could have a single wheel dana 80.

thats what it ism it was a 3/4 ton HD cummins with the 5 speed 1997. i think this should be sufficient to push my 40's around with lol
