Default Clogged cat..

Here's the deal. I have a 99 1500 4x4 5.2 with a clogged cat.
Before anybody tells me it's illegal, I know and don't have a choice due to money. Plus they don't do any inspections in my state. What is my best option for getting rid of that thing? I HAVE to have the truck running to get to work, and I will not have the bucks for a new cat anytime in the near future. I need the quickest, cheapest fix. I will worry about the problems later. Thanks guys!

by the way, I have this weekend to get it done. LOL

unbolt the cat and take it off, then use some re-bar or something and ram it down thru the cat and knock all the **** out of it, so you "gut" it. and ta-da....

Only prob with that is it is all integrated. Once I unbolt it I still have a couple feet of pipe on each end. Well two pipes on the upstream.

yup, just take the pipe off behind it and punch the guts out with a long bar or something. Take out the O2 sensor so you don't destroy it. Start er up to blow all the crap out and bolt it back together. Or if you want, cut the side out of the cat and do it that way, then weld it back up. That's how mine was done before I bought it.

Sorry man, but the cat is welded. Only place to unbolt is a couple feet either direction. I been under it more times than i care to count today.

Maxx...yep that just might work! here comes the rebar!!

Sorry but you are wrong! There is no flanges on both sides of the cat to unbolt, so it's not that easy.

A chunk of stiff steel (or even aluminum) cable will get up in there if rebar won't.

Ryan, you had the right idea...just went about it the wrong way. Thanks to EVERYBODY for your help. I am not a big fan of cats anyway. Took the one off my old Suburban, AND my F250. Just never had to do it in a hurry!
