Coil Spring Help

I am replacing the coil springs on a '96 2wd. What is the correct way to index them, does the end of the coil belong in a certain position?

One end should be smaller than the other. They should taper.

on the mount there should be grooves where its supposed to sit....self explainitory once you see what im talking about...
