It's never to early for a beer.
If you really want a cummins, save for awhile. Build up a good bundle of cash then get what you want.
I'm in the process of thinking about a cummins too myself even though I'm still doing work to my truck. But since I'm still paying this truck off then I'll need to save a good chunk of money, if I swap over to a cummins, it wont be for another year or more.

nice bike dak, there is a 06 kawasaki ninja 600 in the same color at the place i got my truck. if i didnt just replace my tranny i may have bought it. $5500, it has 2000mi on it and is in showroom condition. for the same price i could get a beat up 1000 in the same color, but its got 8000mi and its been dropped and lowered and to be honest, scares the **** out of me. lol.

the only real "dead zone" for no beer is from like 8am-10am... Unless you are gonna go for a secodn day straight! Thats the only time light beer is permissible. It should really be called Breakfast Beer!
As for the truck, I think mine is gonna get sold sooner than later for a diesel. I prefer a cummins, but if the price is right and the body is good, I might even take another nameless brand. Just not a Chevy...
I to would like a cruiser, but its way behind in the list of priorities...
