Default Beware! This could happen to you!

So i have had a miss at low rpms since febuary. My gas milleage has been getting progressivly worse, down to about 6. Then there was a little clatter and it was very confusing. I thought i had a serious engine problem. Well today i had a nasty knock only at low rpms and the truck had no *****, and there was a whining noise. So as im looking at stuff, i decide to take the belt off and check all pulley. The solid pulley between the alternator and the ac pump was almost frozen with a little play in it, so i take it of and theres bearings in there and they were beyond junk! so i bough a new one, put it on and the truck has never ran better! All the power it used to have and im geting about 11mpg again. If your truck has a bad miss, check this little pulley before you go spending big bucks on something it dosent need!!!

that reminds me. I need to get an idler and tensioner from rockauto.

Keeping a spare idler pulley and belt in your truck is a great think if you are traveling long distances.

Nothing is more embarrasing that having to bring your truck into a ship to get those things replaced...only because you don't have the parts and you need a tow from the highway.

Of course your idler pulley breaks when you are moving the family from NY to Oklahoma. Never when you are going 5 miles to work.

the truck got to the point wear it didnt realy want to move, cause the belt would almost get stuck, putting so much resistence on the crank pully to spin. Now i can spin the tires again when i mash the gas! also the belt would get so hot from spinning over that pully, its got bubbles in it.
