Unhappy Plenum failed?

I have a quick question for you guys and appreciate your time. I believe that my plenum has failed. Last week I went out to start my truck and all it would do is turn over, or fire for a couple of seconds and then die. If I pumped the gas I could get it run but as soon as I let off it would die. I first thought it could be the fuel pump so I took it to my mechanic and he said the pump was fine so i limped back home and kept messing with it. I decided to take the air box off and look into the TB and found alot of oil in there. There ware actual chunks of oil. So I'm guessing the plenum has failed? I ran some sea foam and the truck currently runs but i have a feeling that its going to to this again. I have read about the hughes plenum fix. Is this the best route to go, and if so where do I find the parts at?

I really appreciate your help.

thanks

A blown plenum gasket shouldn't prevent the truck from starting, LOTS of us here have it and still drive em everyday... And you do have a blown plenum if you are seeing lots of oil in there. Try www.hughesengines.com for the parts, and have a look in the FAQ section also. Lots of info on the plenum subject around here

You could also remove the pre-cat O2 sensor to check for a clogged cat. If it runs better with that out, then you'll know if its clogged. Could also be a TPS problem... just a couple ideas for ya, others will chime in with more :

My ram 1500 4X4 was using a qt. of oil every 500 mile and when I pulled the PVC vacuum line from the in-tank there wasn't any noticeable vacuum to the touch. And like u said, a lot of oil looking down into the TB. Hughes kit solved that problem.

Like Maxx_Magnum said, this shouldn't affect the starting.....mine seemed to run just fine with the blown gasket.

Fuel filter?

I would also check your battery, mine had a similar problem and all I had to do was clean off the battery terminals.
