Ram 1500 on U-Haul trailer?
I'm going to measure the trailer I have access to and if it wont fit on the trailer I will call a tow truck it's not a huge deal. I know how to properly tow it on the trailer so that's not an issue. I just don't know anything about a tow dolly as I've never used one. Honestly, I just don't like the idea of them.
I don't think I will rent a trailer, I just was curious about them.

this is a very bad excuse to not properly tow a truck. it is 4 bolts, a ratchet strap and 10 minutes to properly set up your truck to tow. just do it.
or as its been stated call a tow truck to come and do it for you.
DO NOT SKIMP OUT ON SAFETY. when your truck falls off the carhauler and into oncoming traffic, and smashes into a family of 4 on their way wherever, you'll regret 'saving a few bucks'
it happens, i've seen it happen.
please, tow the vehicle in question safely and correctly.

Been there, done that, and know many people who've had the same thing happen. I cannot speak enough AGAINST TOW DOLLIES.
Trailer the truck or use a recovery vehicle to have it hauled.
I was in traffic on time and the guy's wheels turned and jack knifed it and the boat behind him. Good thing it was stop and go. I would never used one of them after seeing that!!!! Tow truck almost flipped it was very scary.
Careless people cause wrecks. I can't imagine a vehicle properly anchored to a properly rated tow dolly using the wheel straps and the provided tie-down chains breaking free of the dolly. I'd expect the ball hitch to fail under any stress sufficient to overcome those four devices.
But I have to agree that it's better to move a disabled vehicle on a flatbed straight truck than to tow it on a trailer or dolly. As long as the driver isn't one of those idiots who saves time by neglecting to anchor it, anyway.

I would prefer to use a flat trailer or roll back wrecker. I have used the sling wrecker before and it is similar to a dolly. Tie the wheel and lock it where it won't move, remove driveshaft if useing the dolly. I can put my truck on a 8x16 trailer, but it is within a 1/4" of the sides and actually not sitting where the weight is perfect. The wide tires will pose a problem though. If you can find a flat trailer without sides and drive on fenders over the tires that would be ideal. I have a neighbor who built his with the drive on fenders to haul his truck due to wheel width and it worked excellent.
