Default Broken handle on rear of drivers-side seat

The handle on the back of the driver's seat is unseated on one side, making it pretty useless. It looks like the previous owner tried to repair it by putting a second screw in beside the original, but it obviously didn't hold.

If the screws aren't holding, I'm wondering what the internal composition of the seats is - could I use some sort of anchor?

Otherwise, does anyone have any idea how much purchase there is inside these seats? How large of a screw can I use? (Diameter and/or length-wise)

If I can't fix it, I'll just remove it, but that will leave two holes in the back of my seat, so it's less desirable.

Thanks!
