Default Sticks In 2nd on ocassion

Only when taking off from a dead stop, truck shifts fine through first, then rides second up into higher RPMS. I have to "blipp" the throttle to get it to shift. When slowing down (like 3-5 mph) and the truck drops into first, it will shift fine all the way into OD. It doesn't do this all the time. Any ideas?

I would ask MonteC. His thread is above this one. He's a trans guy, knows them in and out.

If the TV cable has been adjusted incorrectly it will make it do this. I adjusted mine out when the tranny was slipping to drive and when I rebuilt it I forgot to adjust back and it did this until I readjusted the cable.

I've had the truck for almost a year and it just started doing this. Is the TV cable something that can come out of adjustment on its own?

TV cables are prone to stretch, similair to what you would get with a brake cable on a bicycle. Another thing to think about is the gears will only shift if you are getting fluid to the valves in the trans. If any gunk or debree finds it's way in, it may block the fluid from getting to that part of the trans and keep it from shifting. At least that's the way it was explained to me. New fluid and filter may clear this up but while you have the pan off check the throttle valve and band adjustments. The Haynes manual explains this alll in pretty strong detail.
