are yall sure theres a rev limiter at all? I was pulling a friend out of some mud once in drive and it was over revving a little past the redline, somewhere around 5200-300 if i recall.

edit: forgot to add its a 1998 1500 5.9

Well mine does and as far as I know it is factory. It was in the truck when I bought it used and I don't think the PO was smart enough to be able to switch it out. Looks just like yours but the tac goes to 7K. I wish I had a way to show ya.

and just in case anybody was getting an idea, don't screw around raising your rev limiter if you're still running the stock valve springs.

i dont think its an electronic rev limit though, i think its mechanical. i know on the third gens when you hit the limit it will stay there not bounce.

Why is this so? I have mine programmed and the rev limiter raised to hit 6K if I want to. I've hit 5800-5850 a few times shifting from 1st to second. Should I not go that high??? Or go into the red in Park???

Stock spings are weak and subject to valve float in high RPMs.

It would not be a good thing if your pistons and valves ever touched one another.
